CBS ArcSafe Wins ExxonMobil Technology Challenge

Finding ways to keep operators safe from arc flash is a never-ending endeavor, and the staff at CBS ArcSafe are always up for a challenge. Earlier this month, CBS ArcSafe won a reverse-pitch competition sponsored by ExxonMobil aimed at solving safety-related technical challenges at the company's refineries. Justin Gaull, Greg Davis, and Jonathan Whitney represented CBS ArcSafe during this event and won the challenge with the RSA-107. Read more.

Poor Training Cited for Arc-Flash Incident; Company Fined

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited ASARCO, an Arizona metal smelting company, almost $300,000 in penalties related to an arc-flash event that resulted in three workers receiving severe burns. Based upon a survey conducted earlier this year by Littelfuse, incidents like the one in Arizona are happening more often because of lack of training or lack of arc-flash hazard assessments.
EnergyAustralia Releases Internal Findings Related to Fatality

Last November, an incident at EnergyAustralia's Yallourn facility fatally injured an employee. While WorkSafe Victoria is still investigating the matter, EnergyAustralia cited a communication cable that made contact with a circuit breaker's live parts and caused an arc flash. Read more.

RRS-3 Stations Technicians Outside Arc-Flash Boundary

Single-application remote racking systems (RRS-3s) from CBS ArcSafe are designed to remotely rack a single type/style of circuit breaker, allowing the technician to stand up to 300 feet outside the arc-flash boundary. This video demonstrates several RRS-3 units on breakers from various manufacturers.
