With Remote Switch Operators
CBS ArcSafe remote switch operators are used in conjunction with a remote switch actuator to remotely operate various types and styles of circuit breakers, motor control, switches and control circuits. By allowing service personnel to stand outside the arc-flash boundary, CBS ArcSafe remote switch operators offer an added layer of safety to remote switching and racking operations by isolating people from the arc flash hazard boundary.
With a remote switch operator (RSO), a service technician can operate, trip, and close circuit breakers from a safe distance. The remote switch actuators are mechanically assisted by magnets; and no modifications are required to your switchgear. You can easily move the remote switch actuator from one breaker to another.
There are three different styles of remote switch operators powered by a 24 VDC power supply: the RSO-IAR-M18, RSO-IIID-M18, and RSO-IV-M18. The RSO-IAR-M18 works with a remote switch actuator to close and/or trip the electrical equipment. The RSO-IIID-M18 is designed to operate remote switch actuators that charge, close, and/or trip electrical equipment. The RSO-IV is used in conjunction with an apparatus-specific remote racking system.
Remote Switch Operator for Close/Trip Procedures
The RSO-IAR-M18 operator is a rechargeable 24 VDC power supply that, when used in conjunction with an Remote Switch Actuator, will remotely perform close/trip procedures that normally would require local operation by trained personnel.
Uses
- Operating pushbuttons, such as circuit breaker trip and close buttons
- Operating levers, such as those found on motor control center buckets
- Operating handles requiring single strokes
- Operating rotary and pistol-grip switches, such as breaker control switches
Charge, Close, and Trip From a Safe Distance
The RSO-IIID-M18 is a rechargeable 24 VDC power supply that, when used in conjunction with remote switch actuators, will remotely operate any electrical device needing to be charged, closed and/or tripped. While the RSO-I only closes or trips, the RSO-IIID-M18 performs the more complex operations of charging, closing, and tripping electrical equipment.
Uses
- Operating pushbuttons, such as circuit breaker trip and close buttons
- Operating charging handles requiring single or multiple cycles
- Engaging or disengaging mechanical interlocks, such as circuit breaker interlock foot-pedals
Remote Racking for Your Application
The RSO-IV-M18 operator is a rechargeable 24 VDC power supply that, when used in conjunction with an appropriate Remote Racking System (RRS-3), will remotely perform any racking operation that would normally require local operation by trained personnel. Tasks the RSO and RRS-3 combine to perform are listed below.
Uses
- Installing and removing any switchgear utilizing a rotary racking mechanism
- Installing and removing any switchgear utilizing a non-rotary racking mechanism
- Engaging or disengaging mechanical or electrical interlocks, such as circuit breaker interlock foot-pedals or buttons
- NEW - Blue Indicator beacon alerts user when input settings have been reached
