Let’s Get [Company name] Closer to Zero Electrical Safety Incidents

{{FirstName}}, when {{Company}} electrical engineers develop safety plans for their {{Industry}} and other facilities, the ultimate goal is a perfect score—zero incidents. Easier said than done, right? Attaining perfect electrical safety records demands meticulous planning and flawless execution, prompting the question: how do we get there? One critical aspect of reaching the pinnacle of zero electrical safety incidents is the eradication of the risk of injury from an arc flash incident.

Unfortunately, arc flashes are not rare, once-in-a-lifetime events. In my three decades in the electrical industry, I’ve met many individuals injured by arc flash explosions. Perhaps you’ve also met some of these unlucky few.

Distance is Safety

Every day at {{Company}}’s facilities around the world, electricians regularly find themselves caught between two choices to safely work on power distribution equipment: don protective gear and hope it’s sufficient, or resort to the drastic and costly measure of shutting off power.

The good news? CBS ArcSafe provides a suite of products that empower your workers to alter the state of electrical equipment—whether it’s installing, removing, turning on, or turning off — with ZERO risk of an arc flash injury.

CBS ArcSafe remote racking and switching solutions allow workers to operate electrical equipment from up to 300 feet away, well outside the arc flash danger zone. The investment in these safety devices pales in comparison to the human and capital costs of just one arc flash incident, while reducing unplanned downtime.

In the unfortunate event of an incident, nobody wants to live with the realization that they could have made their workplace safer but chose not to. We are delighted to provide you with product sheets, demonstration videos, and live demonstrations upon request.

Thank you, {{FirstName}}, for your time, and I am eager to collaborate with you in our shared mission to get to zero. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about how CBS ArcSafe might help {{Company}} make their electrical workplaces safer while protecting your most treasured assets — your people.

I hope you received our video introduction package by FedEx. Additional information and videos are available at the link below.

Sincerely,

ArcFlash: Hotter than the surface of the Sun

Like any energy source, an electrical circuit is a ticking bomb. It’s simply waiting for the right conditions to blow. A twisted pole, faulty interlock, and enough energy will turn an electrical firecracker into mortal lightning strike. Learn more about arc flashes versus arc blasts, and how to mitigate the danger by downloading the white paper or watching the arc flash video.

Stay Outside the Arc-Flash Boundary with Remote Racking Systems

Universal Remote Racking Systems (RRS-1s) can remove or insert low- and medium-voltage draw-out rotary circuit breakers while the operator remains outside the arc-flash boundary. The unique design of the RRS-1, with its specially manufactured drive shafts and tooling, enables the system to operate with all types of circuit breakers produced by the major switchgear manufacturers. The remote racking system can operate with draw-out types of air, SF6, oil, and vacuum circuit breakers that have either a horizontal or vertical racking operation.

RRS-1 specifications
Weight: 200 lbs
Dimensions: 74″ H x 26″ W x 38.1″ D
System voltage: 24V DC
Input voltage: 120±10% VAC, 47-63 Hz
Maximum AC current: 12.2 A
Drive motor power: 250 W
Drive assembly speed: 80 RPM

Universal Extractor Remote Racking Systems (RRS-2s) are portable and highly configurable remote racking systems built to rack all circuit breakers with non-rotary racking mechanisms while keeping the operator outside of the arc-flash boundary. The operator is able to manipulate the breaker-specific tooling, available for numerous makes and models of switchgear, via either a wired or wireless pendant station from up to 300 feet away.

RRS-2 specifications
Weight: 160 lbs
Dimensions: 60″ H x 26″ W x 36″ D
System voltage: 24V DC
Input voltage: 120±10% VAC, 47-63 Hz
Maximum AC current: 12.2 A
Ext. actuator force: 600 lbs
Ext. actuator speed: 1.0”/second

RRS-2 BE Systems are designed specifically for motor control center bucket removal applications where users normally would be required to perform the install or remove operation manually — exposing them to the potential hazards of an arc flash. Designed to be extremely versatile, the RRS-2 BE is suited for use in all environments — from grueling applications in a power-generation facility to clean rooms at a high-tech manufacturing plant. The included wireless remote control allows users to operate the unit from up to 300 feet away.

RRS-2 BE specifications
Weight: 105 lbs
Dimensions: 74″ H x 25″ W x 32″ D
System voltage: 24V DC
Input voltage: 120±10% VAC, 47-63 Hz
Operating distance: Up to 300 feet

Application-Specific Portable Remote Racking Systems (RRS-3s) are designed to remotely rack a single style of circuit breaker. These stand-alone units feature a magnetic latching system that eliminates the need to modify switchgear and allows operators to easily move the circuit breaker racking system from one breaker to another. Each RRS-3 unit comes with a remote switch operator (RSO) for operation. A radio remote option allows for closed-door racking to occur once the RRS-3 has been attached to the breaker.

Remote Switching Solutions that Can Your Technicians Safe

Remote Switch Actuators (RSAs) are designed to remotely charge, close, and/or trip various styles and types of electrical equipment. CBS ArcSafe can custom build any remote switch actuator for any electrical device so technicians can safely operate electrical equipment from outside the arc-flash boundary. The remote-controlled actuators feature a magnetic latching system, which eliminates the need for modifications to switchgear. Easy installation and removal allow operators to quickly move the remote switch actuator from one breaker to another.

Remote Switch Kits (RSKs) are designed to remotely operate control switches that have pistol-grip style handles. Offering maximum portability, the lightweight RSK products differ from other CBS ArcSafe products by providing complete kits that include a handheld controller, batteries, control cable, an actuator with remote control, and a rugged carrying case. CBS ArcSafe Chicken Switch RSKs are designed to act as a remote electrical switch to operate (close/trip) select models of circuit breakers and motor control centers from a safe distance.
