Each CBS ArcSafe RRS-3 Apparatus-Specific Remote Racking System is a portable, standalone device designed to remotely rack a specific type/style circuit breaker.
These inexpensive, apparatus-specific remote breaker racking systems allow the operator to use a hand-control unit to install and remove a breaker while standing up to 300 feet away.
RRS-3 units are most commonly assisted by strong magnets, meaning that no modifications are required to your switchgear. This also allows operators to easily move the RRS-3 from one breaker to another.
Each RRS-3 is custom built to interface with your specific circuit breaker and is provided with a remote switch operator, which is required for its operation. A radio remote control is also available.

Radio Remote Handheld Transmitter Specifications
CBS ArcSafe also offers a radio remote option that allows for operation up to 300 feet away without the need for an extension cable. The radio remote option also allows for closed-door racking to occur once the RRS-3 has been attached to the breaker.

Remote Switch Operator
Most RRS-3 models require the RSO-IV-M18 to operate. Select devices are powered by local 120 VAC or have the M18 battery technology built into the system. Contact your sales agent to learn the difference in these devices.
With the RSO-IV-M18, a service technician can remotely operate all applicable RRS-3 powered remote racking devices for circuit breakers from a safe distance.
By allowing service personnel to stand outside the arc-flash boundary, the CBS ArcSafe RSO-IV-M18 for the RRS-3 product line reduces the need for a full-body arc flash hazard suit.
Some units which require interlocks to be defeated will be covered by the updated RSO-IV-M18 device. The enhanced controls to operate and defeat interlocks are now a standard offering with the purchase of applicable RRS-3 systems.
Products With Video System Included
Select RRS-3 systems are manufactured with built-in video capabilities. These devices come with a 30-foot or 50-foot cable set to allow the user to get far outside the arc-flash boundary. This technology allows the technician to visually see the torque applied to the breaker while simultaneously viewing the racking indicator (if applicable). These RRS-3 devices cannot be outfitted with radio remote capabilities due to the video signal traveling through the operating cable.
